New Esports Games on the Rise

There are plenty of incredible esports games on the market and we all know the major titles that keep us coming back for more. But many of the major publishers are coming up with new spins on their already successful franchises, as well as a few that are new to the market. Let’s get down to it and give the following titles some consideration as possible new additions to our esports collection.

  • Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout

By the end of last year, this title had sold over 11 million copies and the demand for more is only increasing. It is a smash hit for developer Mediatonic and its cartoonish characters are all part and parcel of the experience. Despite the cutesy appeal of the bouncy, colorful characters, the tenor of the game is highly competitive and the battle royale genre remains fully intact.

It’s a comical, yet unrelenting series of challenges that will have you transfixed throughout, much like the more popular last-man-standing titles. The soundtrack is trancey and the aesthetics are appealing which makes this a big hit with recreational players as well as professional esports players. Speaking of which, the sports betting markets all offer esports and Ultimate Knockout is often on that menu for professional tournaments.

  • Halo Infinite

The Halo franchise is certainly not new but this latest iteration is getting rave reviews. And yes, it’s another of many in the shooter genre but there are a few bells and whistles that will appeal to Halo veterans and newcomers alike according to those who have gotten their hands on it in the beta stage.

Halo Infinite has taken quite a bit longer to be released than originally thought but it seems it was worth the wait. Although it won’t be released until December of 2021, we will reveal to you all we do know. Developer 343 Industries summoned veteran writer and Halo Infinite creative head, Joseph Staten, who has worked on many Halo projects in the past, to bolster the title.

Staten said the following in an Xbox blog post, “We are continuing the story of the Master Chief and Cortana from Halo 5, but also telling a story that’s welcoming for new players. Cortana’s fate is one of the Infinite campaign’s big mysteries, and early in the story, you will meet a new UNSC AI, ‘the Weapon,’ that was created to help stop Cortana.

Together with the Pilot, the Master Chief, and the Weapon begin an epic adventure to explore Zeta Halo, defeat the Banished forces who control the ring, and unravel even more mysteries along the way.”

  • Valorant

The big hitter in the esports market, Riot Games, has rolled out one of its newest entries and Valorant doesn’t disappoint. It is an FPS hero shooter and much different than the League of Legends franchise that propelled Riot games into the video game stratosphere of developers and publishing houses, as well as esports tournament organizers.

The game revolves around two teams of five players each in a high-stakes best-of-24 rounds attacker versus defender series. And there is no doubt the game has caught fire as it is now being offered on a mobile platform as well.

“One of our top goals this first year was to earn the trust and respect of the global FPS community, and to prove to them that VALORANT will always uphold the fundamentals of a truly worthwhile competitive tac-shooter,” said Anna Donlon, Executive Producer of VALORANT at Riot Games.

“To see our growing player community, recognize and appreciate what we’re trying to do with VALORANT is beyond what we could’ve expected and we’re thrilled to soon offer the same competitive VALORANT experience to even more global players.”

  • Clash Royale

Although this debuted in 2016, the game has seen increasing growth and is now one of the more highly sought-after esports games on the market. It is a tower defender game with a variety of characters, equipped with various skills, levels, and elixir for each.

The groups are broken down into common cards, like minions and archers, to rare cards, like Giant and Wizard, to epic cards Prince and Balloon, and finally the legendary cards such as Ice Wizard and Mega Knight.

This does not boast the splashy graphics of some of the more popular mobile games but it is highly strategic, easy to learn but difficult to master. The Clash Royale League Challenge is the pinnacle for all Clash fans and it is sponsored by the developer, SuperCell.

Season 27 is already underway and will include the Executioner Draft, Mega Touchdown, Triple Draft, and Sudden Death Challenges. There is also a 2 v 2 mode and clans that players can join to trade tokens for characters. It is a tried-and-true game that is suited perfectly for its mobile platform and shows no signs of slowing down.
